From the south: See Mile 4.0 for directions to the junction of MA 8 and McNerney Road in Becket. Follow McNerney Road northwest. The name changes to Washington Monument road. The trail crossing is 6.4 miles from MA 8.

From the north: The directions from US 7 in Pitsfield are too complex to reproduce here. Use the Get Directions option on the attached map.

The trail crossing is at the intersection of PIttsfield (Washington Mountain) Road and a dirt road (called Beach Road on the attached map). There is a small parking area on the east side of Pittsfield Road just north of the intersection
The street view to the northon the map shows the parking area. The northbound trail goes into the woods just to the right of the parking area. The southbound trail follows dirt Beach Road southwest for 0.1 miles. The west view shows Beach Road in that direction. 12/8/20 4-6

From the point where MA 8 and MA 9 diverge in Dalton (MA 9 going north) continue on MA 8 for 14 miles. turn left on McNerney Road, then almost immediately left onto county Road. The trail crossing is 4 miles further. I recall there being roadside parking for several cars here.
From the intersection of US 20 and MA 8 in Becket,, go north on MA 8 for 5 miles. Bear left on McNeney Road, then go left on County Road. Proceed as above. Here is the most direct route from Exit 2 on the Mass Pike. From the end of the off ramp of Exit 2 of the Mass Pike in Lee, follow US 20 east for 4.2 miles, then go left on Becket Road. This becomes Tyne Road and then Yokum Pond Road. At 3.6 miles from US 20, make a sharp left onto County Road. The trail crossing is 3 miles further.
The northbound trail toward Piittsfield Road goes north from the crossing while the southbound trail towards Finerty Pond goes south. 6/8/20 (revalidated September 2023) Several roadside

STRONGLY encourage you to access County Road via McNerney as suggested above. That way the majority of your drive will be on paved road (with only a few miles on a good condition portion of County Road). We traveled from Pittsfield MA, and our GPS took us via W Branch Road. W Branch Road was in very bad condition (though I made it through with a minivan). There is PULL-IN parking for two cars near the trail head. There were not too many pull-offs in the area, especially if you don't have AWD. 05/31/21 (revalidated September 2023) 2

From the end of the exit road off the Mass Pike in Lee, go east on US 20. In 4.2 miles go left onto Becket Road. This becomes Tyne Road. The trail crossing is 0.9 miles from US 20. Parking is very limited. There might be one pull-off large enough for a single car to get off the pavement. Rotate the street view on the attached map to the north to see the northbound trail. The southbound trail is not readily apparent in the street views.12/8/20 Very limited

From the end of the exit road off the Mass Pike in Lee, go east on US 20. The parking area is on the right in 4.7 miles. This is on the Becket-Lee town line. See satellite view on attached map. The marker indicates the parking area.. The trail crossing of US 20 is about a hundred yards to the right. The crossing of I-90 (Mass Pike) onpedestrian bridges can be seen in the lower right. Rotate the street view from southwest to southeast to see the parking area.12/8/20 (revalidated September 2023) 15-20
